First
Church worships in the WELL
at First Church. With our small community,
the intimate space of the well keeps
us closer and allows for more informal
worship. First Church is on Salem Avenue,
with parking in the rear of the building.
A “greeter” is at the door
and will give directions to the different
places of programs taking place in the
building. Worship usually last for about
an hour.
What
to Expect at Worship
While
worship in the WELL is warm and friendly,
there is a serious attempt by Pastor
Tim to take the difficult issues that
confront us and address them head-on
in worship. There is a time when the
community will ask for prayers, traditional
music and new music are integrated,
and there is a coffee hour after worship
if you want to stay and discuss the
sermon or the worship service. Or you
might find a new friend that you want
to talk with for a while.
What
do I wear?
What
to wear for First Church is easy. Though
occasionally you’ll see someone
in a shirt and tie or maybe a befitting
Sunday dress, we are usually casual.
Jeans are fine, shorts are great, and
you can enjoy your morning cup of coffee
while in worship. We don’t confuse
form with substance – we think
you can be really comfortable and still
experience terrific worship.
Typically
Pastor Tim will wear something other
than jeans because, as he says, “I
just don’t look good in jeans.”
But you’ll probably see his coffee
cup close by.
